access/ABILITY at Port Discovery Children’s Museum
On September 19, Port Discovery Children’s Museum will welcome, access/ABILITY, a highly interactive disability awareness exhibit that teaches children, parents and educators that we are more alike than we think, despite our differences.
This unique exhibit presents people living with disabilities as full participants in the world and features fun and engaging activities that show the similarities and differences in how each of us with or without disabilities go places, communicate, have fun, and learn. Visitors will have a chance to learn phrases in American Sign Language, type their names in Braille, try a hand-pedaled bike and take part in a multi-sensory City Walk.
The access/ABILITY exhibit will be open through January 24, 2010.
