Baltimore Festivals and Events
Like every great city, Baltimore is a magnetic center for festivities and events, especially when the weather warms up. Spring’s arrival in Baltimore is heralded with several festivals and celebrations. In May, the Baltimore Farmers’ Market, held under the Jones Falls Expressway, lures visitors and locals with Maryland-produced farm-fresh produce including fruits, vegetables, bread, and more.
The month of May brings the Preakness horse race on the 17th. To celebrate this component of the famed Triple Crown, the Preakness Parade trumpets down Pratt Street with floats, bands, and entertainment. In June, the African American Heritage Festival is a celebration of the culture and history of African Americans held over three days. The Irish get their due as well, at the Maryland Irish Festival, held in November. There’s live music, dancing, and of course food and libation.
